Originally by: LoLLeRzBlAdEz Almost everything in EVE is somehow related the corporation - the POS system, the fun titles, the hangars, the chat channel and the little stars on the overview, etc. etc. However, it's surprisingly hard to find a good corporation these days.
Case in point - I have an alt (or main, I should say) with around 40M SP in PVP that could probably get into any solid corp if he really wanted to. I've been to lowsec and 0.0, I've smacked local and been smacked at, I've griefed people in empire and I've mined for veld, but for the life of me I cannot find a corporation with at least a couple of honest, kind, and mature people that don't swing their e-peens at each other all day.
Forming a corporation and recruiting is even harder, let's not talk about that. You form a corp and write up some cheesy recruitment post - maybe you get a couple of old friends to join (who leave soon after), or maybe your friend wants to make the corp work with you. After hopelessly spamming your recruitment jingle anywhere you can, you get a few potential recruits - the guy who wants to know the plan 1 year ahead, the guy who won't log on much (even though he says he's active), the guy who will always be 20+ systems away doing sh*t knows what, the guy who started playing EVE yesterday, and also the guy who will stick through with you no matter what and make you wonder what it is he finds in your corp. Recruiting can only be successful when you have an established history or established base of players, and that only happens through really good friends, either in real life or from some former corp.
As I start searching for a corp, I first ask around all my friends, new and old, if they can offer me anything. They all pipe up with contact info for their recruiter and immediately extol the benefits of their corp to you, but when you join, you realize everything was greatly over-exaggerated and most corps are desperate for members. Then you start looking through the recruitment forum, which turns out to be an exercise in patience. You scroll through the list - there's posts by people who are making their first corp (poor souls, I feel bad for them ), posts by large alliances that claim you will actually matter to them, and posts by corps you've never heard of before that promise secure 0.0 access, which you know is not true when you look at CAOD. I mean, I would dare to say 90% of the corps offering 0.0 access are some sort of pets anyway. The hardcore PVP corps never post in the recruitment forums anyway, because people come to them, usually by personal reference. Those type of corps usually turn out to be somewhat decent, but the leadership is a bunch of control freaks who are too concerned about keeping their director status to see anything outside the big picture.
So what does everyone think - am I being the biggest tool ever, or is all of this rambling somewhat true?
I request that the OP please check his name.
